Fulbright Visiting Specialist Program

Applications are invited for the Fulbright Visiting Specialists Program: Direct Access to the Muslim World for its short-term (3-6 weeks), intensive lecturing and public outreach programs at U.S. colleges and universities on issues related to the Islamic civilization and today's Muslim World.  This nomination is for scholars participating in the Fulbright Visiting Specialists Program: Direct Access to the Muslim World for the Academic Year 2008/09.

Eligibility of Applicants:
All applicants should:
        *be trained in the fields related to Islamic thought, cultures or societies, preferably in the Priority Fields listed below.

        *have proven history of teaching, fluent English skills and attained mid to senior level of professorship or career achievement.

        *be citizens of the participating countries and be in residence of the country of citizenship at the time of application. 

       
Fulbright Program does not require the scholars to be of any particular religion. Former participants of this program are not eligible. Applicants may specify a host institution. However, the Fulbright Program reserves the right to assign the successful applicants to particular host institutions that it sees most appropriate. U.S. citizens or permanent residents are not eligible.

Anthropology/Archaeology, Area Studies (non-U.S.), Arts, Business, Communications and Journalism, Education, History, International Relations, Islamic Studies/Thought, Law, Literature (non-U.S.), Philosophy, Political Science, Public Administration, Religion/Religious Studies, Social Work, Sociology, Women's/Gender Studies

Available online at http://www.cies.org/Visiting_Specialists/  Click on "Instructions---Scholars" and "Applications---Scholars" on the left-hand side of the page (highlighted in yellow).  Field offices are encouraged to use the flyer attached to this message for publicity purposes.

Deadline for Applicants:
March 1st, 2008 - deadline, for applications to be submitted to Embassy.  Preferred method should be email.
