Fulbright Senior Scholars Fellowship

Embassy Invites Applications for Fulbright Scholarship Program 2009-2010

The United States Embassy in the State of Qatar is pleased to announce the call for applications for the Fulbright Senior Scholar Program for the academic year 2009-2010. This program provides grants to scholars for teaching and research in the United States for a period of three months to one year. The Fulbright program is competitive and requires the submission of an application and an outline of a theoretically sound research project.

To be eligible for a Fulbright Program, applicants must have:

  • Citizenship or permanent resident status qualifying the applicant to hold a valid passport issued in the country in which the application is made.
  • Doctoral degree or equivalent professional training or experience at the time of applications.
  • A detailed statement of proposed activity for research or lecturing at a U.S institution.
  • Proficiency in English appropriate to the proposed lecturing or research project to be carried out in the United States.
  • Sound physical and mental health.

Deadline for application is end of November of each year. (This year it is November 30, 2008).

Awards are announced by March next year for scholarship beginning in August/September in that year. Next cycle announcements FY 2010/2011 will be out in June, 2009.
