Number of Qatari Students at U.S. Universities Up by 34%

Mr. Allan Goodman, President of the Institute of International Educatio(IIE), and Alex Ave-Lallemant, Chief Consul at the U.S. Embassy in Doha, briefed the press on November 17, noting that, according to IIE's latest "Open Doors" report, the number of Qataris studying in the United

States was up by 34% . That brings the number of Qataris studying at U.S. institutions in Doha's Education City and in the United States to nearly 1,000. Mr. Ave-Lallemant added that over 100% more student visas were issued by the U.S. Embassy in 2008-2009 than in the previous year, which means that the number of students from Qatar going to the United States for their studies continues to increase.
