U.S. Ambassador Highlights Growing U.S. Businesses in Qatar

U.S. Ambassador to Qatar Joseph LeBaron hailed the opening of DynCorp International’s regional headquarters in Doha as “further proof that the relationship between Qatar and the United States is taking off.”
Speaking at a reception that he hosted at the Four Seasons hotel, Ambassador LeBaron praised the 'visionary thinking of Qatar’s leaders, which has transformed the country into a development model for the region.” Qatar's leadership have created an economic and business climate in Qatar that is immensely attractive to U.S. business, and American firms have responded by investing heavily in Qatar.
In 2007, U.S. companies invested more than $7 billion in Qatar, and America became Qatar’s top import partner, with U.S.-Qatar trade topping $3.2 billion, Ambassador LeBaron said.
Also speaking at the event, Bill Ballhaus, CEO of DynCorp International, said that his company “considers Doha to be ideally suited as a base of operations” because of its outstanding business environment and excellent transportation links.
DynCorp works in more than two dozen countries throughout the world, providing services essential to development, aviation, facilities maintenance, humanitarian operations and national security. Describing DynCorp diverse operations, Ballhaus said, “We have provided support for UN peacekeeping forces in Africa, trained civilian police in Haiti, and flown planes that put out fires in California.”
Ambassador LeBaron thanked Mr. Ballhaus for choosing Qatar, and observed that the opening of DynCorp’s office in Doha signified the confidence U.S. investors have in Qatar as a regional hub.
