Notaries
The Consular Section can perform various notarial services, including the administration of an oath, authentication of Qatari documents, and certification of true copies. Please note that the Consular Section does not perform authentications of U.S. documents. U.S. documents for use in Qatar must first be authenticated by the Department of State in Washington, D.C. and then by the Embassy in Qatar in Washington, D.C.The U.S. Embassy Doha Notary Services include:
- Signatures on documents - Mortgage papers, certain U.S. Government Forms, etc
- Providing certain Embassy generated Letters - Affidavits for Fingerprinting, etc.
Notary Services not provided are:
- Authenication of any documents,
- Certifying Birth Certificates, etc,
- Translation Services,
- Tax Advice.
The fees for notarial services are 30 US dollars or QR equivalent for the first page and 20 US dollars or QR equivalent for each additional page of that document. If you are having more than one document notarized, the first page of each document will be 30 US dollars or QR equivalent.
The fees for certified true copies and authentications are 30 US dollars or QR equivalent for the first page and 20 US dollars or QR equivalent for each additional page. If you are having more than one document certified or authenticated, the first page of each document will be 30 US dollars or QR equivalent and 20 US dollars for each additional page.

PLEASE NOTE: Your appointment refers to the time you should arrive in the Consular Section, including anticipating drive time and security screening. Please take a number once you arrive in the Consular Section. Your appointment time does not refer to the time you will be seen by U.S. Embassy staff.
American citizens should arrive at the U.S. Embassy at the appointed time and be fully prepared to submit the documents to be notarized along with valid picture identification. Please note that Embassy employees are not able to serve as witnesses for any notary services.
