Press Releases

The U.S Embassy in Doha announces changes to the operating hours for certain Consular services.  The new operating hours will take effect on November 5, 2006.

Nonimmigrant Visa Applications:

Appointments for Nonimmigrant (students, business travel and tourism) visas are available on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, through visaapptdoha@state.gov.  Appointments are available from 7:30 to 9:00 AM on the above listed mornings.   Applicants who were requested to bring additional documents or information can appear at the U.S. Embassy on the same days and times above without an appointment but must bring the letter from the initial interview.  Applicants traveling for emergency medical treatment should email visaapptdoha@state.gov or call 488-4010, ext. 6119 to request an emergency appointment.

Immigrant Visa Applications and Petitions:

Immigrant Visa applicants will be notified of their appointments, generally set for Sunday mornings.  Resident American Citizens wishing to file an immigration petition for a family member may appear without an appointment on any Sunday morning between 7:30 and 9:00 AM.  Please forward any inquiries to ivconsulardoha@state.gov.

American Citizen Services:

American Citizens may appear for passport, notarial, birth documentation, and other routine consular services on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, between 1:00 and 3:00 PM.  Americans with genuine emergencies may continue to come to the Embassy anytime during normal business hours or call the Consular Section at 488-4101, ext. 6117.

Please direct general American Citizen Services questions to acsconsulardoha@state.gov.  Please note that we will not admit American Citizens to the Consular Section to discuss the merits of a visa case or for routine services in the mornings.  Please direct any inquiries on nonimmigrant visas to nivconsulardoha@state.gov or for immigrant visas to ivconsulardoha@state.gov.

We are closed to the public on Mondays to allow for administrative processing of all applications and services.  Please visit our website, http://qatar.usembassy.gov, for information on all visa and American Citizen Services.
