Go to Your Interview

IMPORTANT NOTICE:  Starting on January 21, 2007, ongoing road construction projects on 22 February Street will further limit access to the U.S. Embassy in Doha.  22 February Street north of Immigration Roundabout to the U.S. Embassy remains closed, as does the section of 22 February Street north of the U.S. Embassy to Al Sudan Roundabout.  Access to 22 February Street from Al Jazira Al Arabiya Street from Jasim Bin Mohammed Street will also be blocked at this time.  All construction activity, its impact upon the road network, and accessibility to the Embassy is subject to change with little to no advance notice.

The parking area for U.S. Citizens and visa applicants will be closed to accommodate the new construction for approximately one to two months.  However, the south bound lane of 22 February Street (the lane nearest the U.S. Embassy) will be closed to general traffic to provide a limited parking lane for U.S. Citizens and visa applicants.  Several routes to the U.S. Embassy remain open, but U.S. Citizens and visa applicants should plan sufficient travel time to the U.S. Embassy to arrive on time for U.S. Citizen Services or for a visa interview appointment.

BEFORE ENTERING THE EMBASSY:

•   Location: The Embassy is located in Al Luqta Area on 22nd February Street.

•   Parking:  The Embassy has a limited car parking for your convenience. During periods of high demand, however, you may be required to find on-street parking in the residential neighborhood surrounding the Embassy and walk to the main gate. Please plan accordingly.

•   Arrive early: Arrive promptly at your appointment time, which reflects the designated time you should arrive at the U.S. Embassy, not the time of your interview. Proceed to the Consular window on the right of the Embassy’s main gate and present a copy of your appointment notice. Depending on the number of visa applicants on a particular day, the wait for your personal interview may require 30 minutes to several hours, so please plan accordingly, including reading material.

•   Identification: Bring a second form of identification (for example, Qatari Civil ID) to leave with the guard before entering the Embassy in addition to your passport.

•   Prohibited items: You will pass through a security screening prior to entering the Embassy. Leave mobile phones, pagers, cameras and other electronic devices at home or in your vehicle. Visa applicants are not permitted to bring these items onto the Embassy compound.

•   Who may accompany the applicant: Applicants should come to the interview alone. Parents, however, may accompany children under 18.  Children aged 13 and under do not need to appear, and a parent should submit their application to the Consular Section.

•   Applicants with physical disabilities: Applicants with a physical disability may bring an escort. Those requiring special accommodation should notify the Embassy of their needs well in advance of the interview date.

ONCE INSIDE THE EMBASSY:

•   Take a number: Once you enter the Consular Section, please take a number from Non Immigrant Visa button on the Q-matics machine and have a seat.  Your number will be called first for data entry and fingerscans, then the second time for interview.

•   Complete all forms: Ensure that all required forms have been completed in their entirety before you arrive at the U.S. Embassy.  Have your Commercial Bank receipt and photos in hand. Note: You must include the full address of the location (home, hotel, etc.) where you will be staying initially in the United States.  Incomplete or unsigned forms will not be accepted.  If your application is not complete when you arrive, you will be asked to make a new appointment and appear at the U.S. Embassy for an interview on a subsequent day.

•   Interview: Be prepared to present all the required and recommended documentation at the time of your interview. At the end of your interview, the Consular Officer will inform you whether your application has been:

   •  Approved,
   •  Held pending additional information from you,
   •  Held pending administrative processing or
   •  Refused
