Fulbright Foreign Language (Arabic) Teaching Assistant (FLTA)
Program overview
The purpose of the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program is to strengthen the instruction of foreign languages at US colleges and universities, while providing young teachers of English with the opportunity to refine their teaching skills, increase their English language proficiency and extend their knowledge of the cultures and customs of the United States.
During the course of one academic year (9 months), Qatari FLTA Fellows teach Arabic and in parallel take at least two US studies or teaching methodology classes per semester. Fellows also share their culture and values with Americans in university clubs, language dormitories and in community outreach programs.

Eligibility criteria
Important Dates
January 15: Final deadline for submission of applications in Doha
January 23: Interview of applicants by PD Officials at US Embassy Doha
February 1: Final deadline for submission of application and documents in Washington D. C.
May 2009: Candidates notified of results
July 2009: Orientation Conference in the region
August 2009: Awards commence
