Federal Benefits
Services we Provide
Our American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit serves as a liaison abroad for various federal agencies that pay benefits to U.S. citizens; such as the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Labor, the Social Security Administration, the Office of Personnel Management, and the Railroad Retirement Board. On their behalf, we can:
- Assist in filing claims for benefits,
- Assist the Department of Treasury with the delivery of your benefit check in Qatar (although we recommend international direct deposit),
- Help if you are required to report changes in your eligibility for federal benefits - for example, if you change your address, if you know of a beneficiary who died, if you have not received payments, or if you must file reports to keep your payments, and
- Assist with applications for new or replacement social security cards.
Note: U.S. citizens may apply for a social security number through our ACS Unit, but please be aware that this process may take up to six months. Applying for a social security number in the U.S. typically takes only two weeks.
