Application Procedures
How to Apply
Visa applicants between the ages of 14 and 79 must be interviewed in person by a U.S. Consular Officer. Children aged 13 and under do not neet to come to the U.S. Embassy. Applicants for visas should generally apply at the American Embassy or Consulate with jurisdiction over their place of permanent residence. Although visa applicants may apply at any U.S. consular office abroad, it may be more difficult to qualify for a visa outside your country of residence. For example, those applying at the U.S. Embassy in Doha should be Qatari citizens or hold legal Qatari residency and be able to demonstrate strong economic, familial and/or social ties to Qatar. All non-Qatari citizen applicants must have residency permits that extend through their anticipated dates of travel.
Steps in the Application Process:
1) Get the FORMS.
2) Get your PHOTO.
3) Pay the FEE.
4) Gather your DOCUMENTS.
5) Get an APPOINTMENT.
6) Go to your INTERVIEW.
7) Application CHECKLIST.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Ongoing road construction projects on 22 February Street have limited access to the U.S. Embassy in Doha. 22 February Street (D-Ring Road) is now completely closed between Immigration and Al Sudan Roundabouts. All access east of the Embassy is now blocked, including the gravel access road that previously allowed drivers to cross 22 February Street from the east. Access is available on a composite material slip-road that parallels 22 February Street along the side nearest the Embassy. A new temporary parking lot is available in front of the Embassy for visa applicants and American citizens.
All construction activity, its impact upon the road network, and accessibility to the Embassy is subject to change with little to no advance notice. Several routes to the U.S. Embassy remain open, but visa applicants should plan sufficient travel time to the U.S. Embassy to arrive on time for a visa interview appointment.
