Construction on Roads near U.S. Embassy in Doha
Starting on January 21, 2007, ongoing road construction projects on 22 February Street will further limit access to the U.S. Embassy in Doha. 22 February Street north of Immigration Roundabout to the U.S. Embassy remains closed, as does the section of 22 February Street north of the U.S. Embassy to Al Sudan Roundabout. Access to 22 February Street from Al Jazira Al Arabiya Street from Jasim Bin Mohammed Street will also be blocked at this time. All construction activity, its impact upon the road network, and accessibility to the Embassy is subject to change with little to no advance notice.
The parking area for U.S. Citizens and visa applicants will be closed to accommodate the new construction for approximately one to two months. However, the south bound lane of 22 February Street (the lane nearest the U.S. Embassy) will be closed to general traffic to provide a limited parking lane for U.S. Citizens and visa applicants. Several routes to the U.S. Embassy remain open, but U.S. Citizens and visa applicants should plan sufficient travel time to the U.S. Embassy to arrive on time for U.S. Citizen Services or for a visa interview appointment.
The U.S. Embassy in Doha will continue to offer U.S. Citizen Services from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Nonimmigrant Visa (NIV) and Immigrant Visa (IV) interviews are conducted by appointment only. NIV interviews can scheduled through our website, http://qatar.usembassy.gov, and are routinely conducted on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7:45 a.m. to 10 a.m. IV interviews are also by appointment only, usually on Sunday mornings. U.S. Citizens can still file IV petitions on Tuesday mornings from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Americans traveling abroad should regularly monitor the U.S. Embassy in Doha’s website, http://qatar.usembassy.gov, and the U.S. Department of State's travel website at http://travel.state.gov, where the current Worldwide Caution, Middle East and North Africa Public Announcement, and other Travel Warnings and Public Announcements can be found.
